g the hearts of Kollywood buffs, Jessie (read Trisha) is going to rule Bollywood not just with looks, but also with her voice.
Buzz is that the actress has decided to dub on her own for the Hindi version of Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya, which too is directed by Gautam Vasudev Menon.
‘She is doing her own Hindi lines. And she is working very hard on them,’ sources say. Meanwhile, Trisha, who was irked by some media reports which linked her with the Tollywood drug scandal, is relaxed now, as she spent the weekend in her hometown Chennai.
The actress tweeted that she, with a cousin by her side, watched one of her favourite movies, converstaed a lot, had home made food, took her pet for a massage at a spa and met some of her best friends too.

ni Ratnam and Lissy Priyadarshan organised in Chennai on Sunday ‘Evergreen 80s’, a reunion of stars of the 1980s. From Rajinikanth to Chiranjeevi to Mohanlal to Ambarish, top actors of all four south Indian languages attended the event and had a whale of time.
‘It was beautiful. The theme for the event was black and green and all actors were dressed accordingly,’ says Suhasini. Khushboo says, ‘We were like school children. Imagine Rajini sir sitting on the floor and chatting with us.’

The music o
f Thambikkottai, a film starring Narain, Poonam Bajwa, Meena and Sangeetha in pivotal roles, was launched in Chennai on Monday.
The audio was launched by Arya and received by Jeyam Ravi in the presence of popular personalities Mysskin, Prasanna, R B Chowdary, M S Bhaskar, Sargunam, Kannan and others.
Directed by Ammu Ramesh, the film produced by RK Suresh under the Thambikottai Rajeshwari Films banner, has music by D Imman. ‘All the songs will be entertaining,’ said the music composer.
He added: ‘Though I haven’t experimented with the music, there are two melodious numbers in the film– Nooraandu varai… and Unakkaga uyir… that will immediately strike a chord with the audience.’

K Balachander, the mentor of Kamal Hassan, was all proud of his student when the latter was felicitated by the Kerala government during the Onam celebrations in Thiruvananthapuram recently.
The ace filmmaker, who introduced many talents to Tamil cinema, has sent a written speech to the function describing Kamal and his admiration for the actor.
The six-page letter goes on to describe Kamal as a legend of cinema.
‘Rajini is a phenomenon, Kamal is an icon, a monarch of all he surveys!’ it says. The veteran finishes his letter saying ‘Thank you Kamal for ruling my heart! Thank you God for giving us Kamal’.

, daughter of veteran Kamal Hassan, got injured on Sunday while shooting stunt scenes for AR Murgadoss directed 7am Arivu, which has Suriya in the lead role.
The unit of the film produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies was shooting some risky stunt scenes on the Velachery -Tambaram road, in the suburbs of Chennai.
‘Hectic shoot today, suffered my first share of stunt injuries for 7am Arivu today. Nothing serious, but definetly annoying *ouch*’, tweeted Shruti. She added: ‘Suriya is a super supportive co-star ready with magic medication and lots of concern!:)’

The presence of Sridevi at the launch of Ram Gopal Varma’s new Telugu film Kadha-Screenplay-Darsakatvam: Appalaraju, which has popular Telugu comedian Sunil in the lead role, has paved way for some hot news.
Reports suggest that the yesteryear heroine will launch her daughter Jhanavi in Tollywood. ‘If Nagarjuna’s second son Akhil is launched into movies, the heroine will be Sridevi’s daughter Jhanavi,’ reports say.
It is to be noted that Sridevi, speaking at the launch of RGV’s film last week, said she was indebted to Telugu cinema and it was Tollywood which took her to great heights. She was accompanied by husband Boney Kapoor for the function.

Popular Telugu actor Dr Rajasekhar, who is known for action-packed movies, will be donning the role of a dotting brother in Marudhani.
The Tamil version of Tollywood hit Gorintaku, Marudhani will hit the screens soon. Directed by V R Prathap, the movie is about love and affection between a brother and sister – played by Rajasekhar and Meera Jasmine respectively.
Produced by K Prabhakar and R Krishna, the movie has Aarthi Agarwal, Jai Akash, Hema Choudhary, Mayilsamy, Aarthi and Payilvan Ranganathan in pivotal roles. According to the producers, ‘movies on brother – sister sentiment is a rarity these days. Marudhani will certainly fill the void.
It would be in the same league as Pasamalar and Mullum Malarum.’
‘Loaded with sentiments, the movie can be watched with the whole family.
Also commercial elements like action and humour have been woven into the script. A stunt sequence shot in a sugar mill is the highlight of the movie’, they say.

Making an accl
aimed novel into a movie is no easy task.
Gowthaman, who rose to fame with his bio-pics on Veerappan and Auto Shankar on television, is making an entry into tinsel town with a film titled Magizhchi.
Apart from direction, he is also trying his hand at acting. This movie is based on a novel Thalaimuraigal by eminent author Neela Padmanabhan, a Sahithya Academy Award Winner.
And this attempt by Gowthaman has received accolades from Kamal Hassan. ‘I am happy that Gowthaman has come forward to film a novel by Neela Padmanabhan. He is a great writer whose work should be celebrated by one and all,’ the veteran actor said.
He added: ‘It’s my long time urge that novels should be made into films.
Literature should be mixed with cinema. Only then meaningful movies could be made. Kudos to Gowthaman for his honest attempt.’

Kollywood has seen many a cinematographer taking the avatar of a director. Balu Mahendra, Thangar Bachan, K V Anand and Ravivarman are to name a few. Toeing their line is Pavan Sekar, who is directing a film titled Yugam.
The cinematographer, whose camera work in movies like Aasai Aasaiyai, Sindhanai Sei, Adhey Neram Adhey Idam won laurels, is venturing into direction with this thriller, which has Rahul Madhav of Adhey Neram and Adhey Idam fame and Deepthi of Pattalam in lead roles.
‘We are exploring a new genre called family thriller with Yugam. Enough care has been taken to ensure that the movie is no inferior to Hollywood films in terms of technology,’ Pavan Sekar says.
On the story, he says, ‘The script revolves around Deepthi and Rahul, who play a young couple. The film showcases the problems that can arise between two individuals, if there is a lack of understanding and trust.’

wo hours of its release on Saturday, A R Rahman’s theme song for the Common Wealth Games was downloaded more than 7,000 times, say reports. As the music maestro croons ‘Khelo, jeeyo, hey-o, let’s go…’, the rousing chorus takes the song forward and gives it an emotional appeal.
Launching the song at a function in New Delhi on Saturday, the Oscar- rammy winner sung the song for around five minutes in front of a gathering which included Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, her Haryana counterpart Bhupinder Singh Hooda and CWG Organising Committee Chairman Suresh Kalmadi.
“I feel honoured to get the opportunity to compose the theme song for the mega-event. It was not an easy task. I had started composing it six months ago and finished just last night,” Rahman said. “A well beginning is the half job done. Now onwards you will listen this song day in and day out,” a beaming Kalmadi said.
